Born in the Greater Buffalo region of Western New York, Matt began playing guitar at 6 years old and had the fortune of studying contemporary styles with Ralph Fava, Ron LoCurto and Matt Michaud. He began performing with local acts as an early teenager.

In 2010, Matt began his collegiate music studies at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he studied classical guitar and composition with James Piorkowski, and jazz studies and improvisation with Bruce Johnstone. After receiving his B.M. in Guitar Performance, he began graduate studies at Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University, where he studied classical guitar performance under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Meyer and held a graduate teaching assistantship in jazz studies under Dr. John Coggiola.

Matt currently resides in Brooklyn, NY, where he works primarily as a session guitarist and producer. He is working on his first solo record, "Sonder," expected to be released in March, 2025. He regularly performs as a soloist, with his trio, and as the lead guitarist for Zach Ludlow.

RECORDING

Music production is a process in which an idea evolves from its conception to fruition. Living in this process is my passion. It doesn’t matter if you have a full song with pre-conceived production notes, or even just a couple lines of a verse. I love taking these ideas and extrapolating all that I can from them in order to best serve the song. I always begin with the end in mind.
